The Seven Most Important Reasons Why You Should Consider A Career In Truck Driving

Food, clothing, shelter, etc.; we all need those things. Now, whether you are looking to make a career change or are unsure of what to do next, we have ten reasons (listed below) as to why you should consider a career in truck driving which can be considered the most important jobs in the Nation.

The Income Potential Could Be Unlimited (If You Play Your Cards Right)

  • Did you know that two years ago, the income potential as high as $40,000 per year?
  • The average van driver could earn up to $50,000 per year or more.
  • A flatbed driver could earn up to $70,000 a year or more.
  • Some new drivers(depending on the company and where you work) can get $30,000 a year or more, and that includes the signing bonus(which is in the ballpark of $5,000 or higher).

Once again, these are all ballpark numbers. Nothing is set in stone. Some of you could get more with the right training. We are just giving you an idea of what kind of money you could make if you made the switch.

The Apprenticeship Program

This one mainly applies to the veterans, but there could be others out there. This apprenticeship program was founded by a fellow vet, TanTar Transportation. The program allows you to get your CDL license much easier and makes it much more affordable.

It is all part of the initiative to make truck driver recruitment easier. They work very closely with the VA (Veteran’s Administration) to cover things under the GI bill.

The right applicants (you) could receive up to $1,000 (maybe more) a month, plus you get a paycheck on top of that.

Traveling Down The Highway

Do you like to travel? This could be the job for you. A lot of truckers have gone on record as saying they love to do it. Many of them have said there is no better way to see the rest of the country. You get to travel to places you might never otherwise.

Some people find the idea of a desk job boring and dull. There are many who do not like the idea of sitting behind a desk for 8 hours to earn $20,000 per year. That is why this job could be the right fit for you. You will get to see places like The Golden Gate Bridge, The Brooklyn Bridge, and Florida (which is just a few of the places you get to see).

Some of you might get to drive through the Florida Keys to deliver stuff. As a lifetime Floridian, there is no better place than the Florida Keys. You will feel as though you have died and gone to heaven. There is no better place to visit (or be) than Florida, even if just for a day. You will not want to leave.

That is why a career in truck driving might be the right fit if that appeals to you.

The Community

Many have said (much like being in the military) there is a community and comradery that you get (something you do not always get with other jobs). Many office jobs are filled will backstabbing and gossip. You are not going to find that with truck driving as much.

Truck drivers have a lot of pride in helping our military personnel and other vets. That is why you will hear so many talk about their similar beliefs and backgrounds. In fact, many have said that truck driving is a good switch if you have been in the military (in some capacity).

“We share similar values and beliefs. We have hired many military vets for our team. It is the perfect fit. Not every vet wants to sit at home and collect dust after they have retired from service. You want to be able to do something. Watching tv all day is not everyone’s idea of a good time.”

Jobs

There is always going to be a need for truck drivers. In fact, with plenty of layoffs happening (across the country), the need for truck driving is greater than ever. You are most likely not going to find yourself out of work any time soon.

The current truck driver shortage is near 180,000. In the next decade, the industry could see a surge of about 10% or more. That is why you are going to have that peace of mind. It is also great if you do decide to move or relocate for some reason.

Let’s say that you decide to move(from up north) down here(in Florida). You are not going to find it hard to get a good job. You can transfer your credentials(as a truck driver)down here to Florida(this is just an example of what you can do). You can still keep going with what you were doing.

Classes

This falls in line with the last segment. Say, for example, you started truck driving classes up north. You then moved down here (to Florida). You can easily transfer what you have done so far. That is how convenient and affordable the CDL licensing and classwork is.

The school fees are $7,000 or less (depending on where you go). Some places will even offer assistance with your tuition and find a job (for you) after you graduate. Say, for example, you are planning to move to Iowa. This state alone has at least ten choices of schools to pick from. It is something to think about.

The Benefits

The benefits alone are reason enough to consider joining. What type of benefits do you get?

  1. Paid holidays and vacation.
  2. Comprehensive health coverage, including dental and insurance.
  3. Direct deposit and a 401(k) plan with the company matching your deposit 100%.
  4. The benefits listed above could be just the tip of the iceberg for you.
